I have been a chiropractor for over 30 years! And I have to say that I enjoy being a chiropractor more now than ever! Why? Because, I have had the pleasure of taking care of thousands of people, including kids of all ages, pregnant moms, athletes and others. One of the things that has always intrigued me about chiropractic is that it is so much more than just pain relief. Chiropractic is really all about being well. Really well. Wellness is when your body is functioning perfectly. All your organs are doing their job correctly. All your muscles are moving you exactly the way you want them to. You have perfect muscle coordination and hand-eye coordination. (This is why more than 90% of world class athletes have regular chiropractic care.) I love seeing people live their lives the way God had intended, being and feeling well! Especially kids!
A question I get asked frequently is "how did I get into chiropractic?" While I was growing up, my mother suffered from migraine headaches. They were bad. She had them every 2 weeks. She'd have to have the shades pulled because bright lights would bother her. She felt very nauseous. And nobody could help her. When I was 16, new neighbors moved in next door. The woman told my mom about "her" chiropractor. It sounded too good to be true. But mom gave it a try. 6 weeks later, she stopped having headaches!
During that time, I struggled with multiple health problems. I had ear infections and strep throat 3-4 times a year. I had seasonal allergies in the spring and fall. And to top it off, I was severely allergic to bee stings. The couple of times I was stung, I developed anaphylactic shock. (Anaphylactic shock is an extremely powerful allergic reaction that can be fatal.)
After my mom's headaches improved she talked to the chiropractor about me. He told her that he didn't know if he could help me, but wanted to try. Well you can probably guess how the story ended. Within a couple of months, all of my health problems disappeared! Permanently. I just didn't know about the bee sting allergy. 25 years went by. One summer day, as I was outside mowing the lawn, something felt funny, I looked down and I had bees all over me. I was stung 5 times. I developed 5 small welts, but by that evening they were gone! That was the end of my fear of bees.
Because of the experiences I had with chiropractic, I decided to be a chiropractor. I feel very blessed to have been able to help so many people. Yes, I am passionate about chiropractic!
